Description:
Pentimenti is an Italian word that means 'regrets', however it is also a term used in art history to describe visible traces of earlier painting on a canvas. The music and the words play with that double definition in this piece.

On a personal note:
The idea for this song cycle emerged from my motivation to combine both classical and popular music traditions, taking inspiration from artists like Kali Malone and Ellen Arkbro (in particular, her gorgeous album 'I get along without you very well').

The process of working on this composition was happening in two stages: writing the text and composing the music, which at the beginning were rather independent, but grew increasingly inseparable. It was the first time when I was writing a piece that I knew I would be premiering on the organ and truly interesting things were happening in my compositional mind.
